Tamara! Thanks for sharing - I'm still filming more videos that I hope will make people smile. Following the advice of some readers, I do intend on putting up some challenges for people to do. As for approaching women, it's always scary, but the results are worth it. Funny enough, my initial approach feels overly confident (but not douchebag-like). I liken it to get my foot in the door so that I can communicate my genuine self in the ensuing conversations. It's not my ideal method, but it's just how "the game" seems to work.

Great website Ki'une! I'm a huge fan of your video version of the Sunscreen Song. I post it to my Facebook page every few weeks as inspiration to my friends! I'm with you on doing something that scares you frequently but I think I'm going to follow your model and pick several "scary" things for the week. Should be interesting!
Btw, as a woman I never knew how scary it can be for men to approach us! I will say this - most very attractive woman LOVE men who make them laugh and aren't overly aggressive. Most of the time you get three types approaching you: 1) You can tell they are scared of you. 2) Total douchebag 3) The cute guy that's scared to talk to you.
This is why hot girls usually end up with #2. Have no fear!!!

Great video! I haven't skydived yet, though I've paraglided (one of the main rotating images), bungee jumped, and free jumped off a bridge!

Hi Bendik,

Fear of failure comes first, but fear of success, although previously unimaginable, is something I can understand a little better now. On approaching women on the subway, I didn't think too much about it. Once I saw the opportunity, I just knew I had to say something, anything - it didn't matter if it went good or bad. Surprisingly, it went well. I guess that 's where public speaking comes in - just impromptu speaking. I totally would like to write more about comfort challenges. I'm open to all discussions, though right now it's limited in the comments section. Thanks for the article idea!!

All the best,

Ki'une

by the way! Here is my last "real" adventure that i still can feel in my body!

First time SkyDiving! RECOMMENDED comfort challenge!
To make the story short, I didn`t speak the language so pre-jump training was limited, no sleep from the day before, met up with a guy from 6 hours earlier which i convinced to come rent a car and drive to a place whom we only got the name for, no specific driving instructions...Amazingly after hours of driving we made it there as the needle in the heystack and we jumped into the sunset, most beautiful experience ever!

For those of you who would like to see it here is the link:

Nice article! Hit me hard on that ecommerce thing...time to put that on my list also, believe it or not, it has been a huge internal fear...I suspect it is the fear of failure or even worse...success?!

Did you put this \getting the chicks number\ thing on your list before you did it? Did you take the subway back and forth 5-6 times until a hot chick showed up?

I think that the exact objective of doing the \getting a chicks number in the public\ thing, must be one of the most barrier breaking things when it comes to public speaking and talking to strangers.

What about writing an article about comfort challenges, and maybe getting your readers to contribute listing up different stuff and pushing eachother, reporting in when they did something, what made them follow through or what fear made them procrastinate.... You might start a valuable dialogue with your readers, challenging eachother to do the comfort challenges. Would be cool to see something like that, and I would certainly join.

Best regards.

Akiko,

Public speaking is one of those activities that has paid me back several times over! From confidently meeting women to speaking clearly on my DVD, it's something I'm definitely getting back into soon. If you're new and afraid, they have really, really small roles you can participate in before you, such as timing the speeches and delivering a short summary. There's also mentoring if you join a really good club.

On the other side of fear lies freedom!

I've been enjoying reading your blog. Lots of good inspirations in here :) One in particular - going to Toastmaster - an idea that I've been toying with for awhile...how was your experience? Public speaking is one of my most dreadful fears, but something I am looking forward to overcoming...
